Amplify is an evangelism conference put on by the Billy Graham Center for Evangelism. I have gone to the conference for the past two years and it was phenomenal. I would highly recommend taking a look.
Here’s why I’m excited to go this summer:
Connect with my tribe
This conference is a great place to meet like-minded leaders who are excited about helping people find their way back to God.
Spiritual inspiration
The past two years I really felt the presence of the Holy Spirit at Amplify. The worship was excellent. Looking forward to a bit of a spiritual retreat again this year.
Experienced speakers
If 2018 is any guide, the speakers at Amplify are not on stage just because of their titles. They’re there because they’ve actually been in the trenches and know what it takes to be effective leaders in evangelism. We’ve all been to conferences where the presenters’ bios seemed impressive but on stage their inexperience shows up via shallow insights or poor speaking ability. This was not the case at Amplify. The depth of experience of nearly all of the presenters (and breakout session leaders, too) was evident.
Diverse speakers
Globally, Christianity is extremely diverse. And we know it’s destined to be that way because “all nations, tribes, and tongues” are a part of the Kingdom of God. I was happy to see that the presenters at Amplify represent this diversity. There’s a lot of variety in race, gender, and church affiliation or denomination.
Research-based methods
Amplify 2018 was rich with research and data on how evangelism and church growth happens, most of it from Lifeway Research, I believe. I loved that and I expect more of this in 2019. I think this research is critical to being effective and I’m so glad to see these studies being done and shared with church leaders.
Emphasis on social issues
I was happy to see that in 2018 there was a clear emphasis on social issues from the speakers. Whether we like it or not, these social issues deeply affect the landscape of evangelism in our culture. They must be addressed. And there is nothing better to address these issues than the gospel itself. The gospel has the power to change the world for better like nothing else does.
Engaging topics
The tracks this year are intriguing, and a bit different from last year. I like the format of the conference, they have tracks but you’re free to go to whatever sessions you want to. I think I’ll find myself jumping around a bit this year.
Rural church track
The Gospel is the same. But church can look like different things in different places. Face different challenges in different contexts. This conference includes an emphasis on the rural church in America, which is refreshing and practical.
A good value for the price
The conference organizers have made the conference even easier to afford this year with housing and meal options on-site. Conferences are always an investment but I find Amplify to be a great value.
A well-run conference
No one likes a conference where the transitions are awkward, the pace moves slowly, and things feel unorganized. That’s not Amplify. If they do transitions how they did in 2018 you’ll wonder why every conference doesn’t emulate the same model. Super fast and no fluff.
If you’re a church leader or just interested in seeing people come to know Christ, I highly recommend the Amplify Conference.
See you there!
B Mark Anderson says
I agree with the 10 reasons.
If we could reach just one person for Christ, that will be one person with Christ and one person out of hell for eternity–won’t that be worth it? Amplify can help us focus on what’s most important in this short life.
I am registered for Amplify again this year.
