I love this new book that my wife bought for our family. It so clearly lays out the story of the of the gospel, and is filled with beautiful, fun illustrations.
This Is the Gospel: A Kids Read Truth™ Story & Scripture Book
Starting with creation. Adam and Eve. It talks about the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The Fall.
The book gives really good explanations for kids about why these things happened. And why they matter. And then introduces Christ and talks about his teaching, crucifixion and resurrection.
Each page has beautiful illustrations. I just love the illustrations, and the kids—I think that makes the book really attractive to them. I just love the design of the book. It’s full of really clear, big, bold theological statements that are laid out so nicely and clearly. And then on the bottom of each page, the scripture verse that supports the concept.
The thing that I really like about the book, though, is that it doesn’t stop there. It goes on and, and explains more.
It introduces the Holy Spirit. It talks about being a part of God’s family. And it talks about how we should share the Good News. I just love how it continues and gives us more than just, “Okay, now we have salvation.”
As Paul writes to the church in Corinth, the importance of the Gospel doesn’t end with a person putting their trust in Christ. The Gospel is something “by which we are being saved” (1 Corinthians 15:2, emphasis added). Thank you to author Jared Wilson for showing me this.
The book then then talks about the Second Coming. He will make everything new. One day Jesus will come to earth again, and rule as King over God’s good creation.
I just think it’s a beautiful book about the most beautiful story there could ever be.
It also includes some tips for parents: to think about who your kids would like to share the gospel with, and to pray for them together.
When I was a kid, I was able to lead some of my friends to Christ, and this such a good reminder for us as parents to encourage our kids to do that and to be talking with their friends. They’re so open about it with their friends, and we need to encourage that and support them in that as much as possible.
I just love this book. I thought it was a great way for us to talk about the Gospel with our kids.
I would love to hear how you are talking about the Gospel with your kids, send me your ideas!

Thanks for your review– I ordered this book today- it’s great! I am working through sharing the gospel with preschoolers in a pandemic while our church is in a series on the book of Acts. At my blog I am reviewing books I’m finding that help teach the Good News for our littles! This is book G! http://whisperingtheword.blogspot.com/2021/04/this-is-gospel-kids-read-truth-story.html
